The town has long been influenced by different communities, traditions, and cultural routes, giving it a diverse local character. Today, Debar combines its historic identity with the dramatic natural landscapes that surround it.

Debar Lake, also known as Špilje Lake, is one of the most recognizable natural features of the area and stretches through the valleys of the Black Drin and Radika rivers.
